Teddy is just over a month old and I feel like my husband and I are coming out of the no-sleep zombie stage. We're getting in our groove which is so nice. Despite being in quarantine from the recent happenings in the world, we are getting outside to enjoy the fresh air when we can and enjoying spending time with our family. Since this is my second time around with a newborn, I feel like I've been compiling this list of newborn essentials for almost two years now. I did my research before Ryder was born when setting up my registry but nothing truly tells you what you need until you're in the thick of it. Teddy has enjoyed many of the same things Ryder did but it's amazing how every baby is different and we've been trying out new products as well. So if you are in that newborn stage or are about to be, I hope this list below can help you!

Sleeping

Bassinet

There are so many bassinets on the market and I'm so glad I finally found one that works for us. We have been loving the Baby Delight brand and love this bassinet. I can put it right beside my bed and easily take Teddy out for his night feedings. The mattress is firm yet comfortable for him and he sleeps so well in it. I also love how its neutral and sleek looking!

Swaddle

Both of my boys did not like the traditional swaddle because they liked having their hands by their face. The Love to Dream Swaddle Up is the perfect solution. It has a snug fit and keeps their hands up which Teddy is loving!

Sound Machine

When babies are in the womb, it sounds like a vacuum 24/7. To help you get some sleep, I suggest getting a sound machine like the Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine. You can control the settings through an app on your phone and have the ability to add more than one sound machine at a time. Right now I have one for each of the boys and it's been so convenient.

Baby Lounger

While the Dockatot worked for us the first time around, I asked my friend to borrow her Snuggle Me in a desperate attempt to get Teddy to sleep those first few nights. He absolutely loves it and I'm not surprised why. It's so soft and makes the baby feel like they are being hugged. I highly recommend!

Clothing

Zutano Booties

Socks do not stay on a newborn's feet, period. I can't say enough good things about Zutano booties. They are so comfy and actually stay on their feet! They often go on sale so I suggest buying at least 3 pairs in size 3 month for those first couple months.

2-Way Zip Pajamas

I highly recommend purchasing multiple pajamas that zip from the bottom like these pajamas from Carters. In the middle of the night when you have one eye open during a diaper change, you want to make it as quick as possible and these pjs will help.

Swaddle Blankets

Another must-have for newborns are soft swaddle blankets, like these from Burt's Bees. You can use them for so many different things, whether you want to swaddle your baby or use as a blanket. I also like to use them as a nursing cover because the material is not too heavy. It's spit-up central those first few months so I suggest getting a pack of three!

Bath Time

We've been using the Baby Delight Infant Bather and Teddy loves it! It's small so it's easy to store instead of having a large bath tub. Can't beat the $19.99 price tag too!

Baby Gear

Baby Delight Portable Bouncer

Newborns sleep a lot, but when they are awake and alert it's fun to watch them and let them look all around. The Baby Delight Portable Bouncer is a must-have!

Boppy Lounger

I would have to say the Boppy Lounger is one of our absolute favorites. Taking care of two kids under two can be a bit hectic. This awesome lounger allows us to safely place Teddy in a comfortable resting spot when we aren't holding him. You can easily move it from room to room and he absolutely loves it. I also like that it props his head up a bit which is a plus if you have a baby who often times spits up after meals.

Ergo Baby Embrace

I did not use a baby carrier too often with Ryder, but it's been a must the second time around since I need to hold Teddy but also use my hands to help out Ryder. I came across the Ergo Baby Embrace and instantly knew I'd love it. It's soft and comfortable for both Teddy and myself which is not the case for many carriers and that was a major highlight in the reviews.

Feeding

Burp Cloths

It's hard to put a bib on a newborn so I suggest getting a good collection of soft burp clothes like these that will absorb the mess but are also soft on baby's skin.

MAM Pacifiers

I know every baby is different as far as preference for pacifiers, but the MAM brand has worked for us since day one for both boys. I love that they have all different sizes from newborn to 6+ plus, and how you can get them in glow in the dark. I suggest stocking up as we are always losing them and needing to buy more!

Baby Delight Bfree Bottles

These bottles have been so amazing for Teddy and I highly recommend!

On The Go

LAND Backpack

Every new mom needs a LAND Backpack. It's the best diaper backpack for so many reasons, number one being the price - how can you beat $21.99? I've been using mine for almost two years and it's held up wonderfully. I can fit everything I need for both kids yet it doesn't feel like too much to carry. Do yourself a favor and add this to your registry!

There you have it! I hope this list helps you in those first few weeks with your brand new baby!
